“ The first time I tasted this slice of pure hidden heaven here had to be around 2016 when I was on the way to my daughter’s Mom’s parents house and stopped on our way in from Greensboro. Normally, I would not stop at a pizzeria in the middle of nowhere. I am also not the type of New Yorker that swears by northern food. IMO, When it comes to pizza though, nothing compares to up North. With all that said this place is hidden gold. The absolute closest thing I have found to New York tasting pizza in North Carolina. And I’ve been to many, many pizzarias here. Hoping that the next one was going to be the one I swore by. Well.... I found it, finally I am writing this as I am traveling from Greensboro to Louisburg to see a friend. I asked my daughter what she wanted to eat and then it popped into my head that we were going to have the opportunity to eat at American hero. That in which she definitely does not remember the last time she ate there. Seeing that she was two. But we are on the road and I told her I had a surprise for her. She knows we’re Italian and only have Italian food when I cook it. She’s gonna love this. I mean look at the reviews alone. This is the first time I’m visiting this Google page and I’m not surprised. Whatever you guys are doing, keep doing it and we will see you in about 30 minutes. All the times I came before it was just pizza. I think we are going to try the spaghetti and meatballs. I have a good feeling this is not gonna disappoint. Update: it’s the day after and of course it didn’t disappoint at all. And I forgot to add they have a fruit punch machine that you will find in almost every NY pizzeria. No need to get anything other then the fruit punch or lemonade. My daughter said it’s the best pizza she ever had. I stopped eating at one point and she said “you’re crazy for not eating. This food is amazing.” Thank you guys for your hospitality last night. We are upset you are closed today. We planned on stopping back by on our way home. We will be back in a few weeks. ”
“ I would argue that these guys have the best pizza in North Carolina. It's so unassuming. The building is run down. But these guys... The way the crust is oily and crispy at the edge, slightly sweet throughout, very little yeast flavor, (Randy's in Durham is very very yeasty by comparison). Very foldable... Thin with a good base.... It's absolutely sublime pizza. The slices they have sitting are good, but you ought to try a whole pie. It's absolutely amazing. It had been three plus years since I had been here and they instantly recognized me when I came in. I was shocked and amazed! Keep doing what you're doing guys and God Bless You! ”
“ For such a small little unremarkable place they sure do have some great food. The portions are huge! The pizza is the best around! The calzones and subs are awesome! Even the cheeseburger is great! The staff are also very friendly. Sure it's not the cheapest place around but well worth the price. Don't forget to try the lemonade! ”
“ Ate this two days in a row it was so good. Wings always saucy and there not strict with the ranch . Always gives me plenty of. I’m staying at Econ lodge and when I tell you the hotel don’t have food or breakfast this coming fresh and grilled was what I needed . ”
“ The best pizza and Philly cheese stake experience ever! The family owned shop was an experience I won’t ever forget from the amazing pizza and the best service from there amazing staff wast for sure worth the 3 hour drive from Florence sc! Highly recommended if you want a great spot to take your family and enjoy a great dinner ”
“ I will definitely swing by again..the biggest and probably best sub ive ever had ”
“ The service here is always excellent and the owner and his employees are so friendly and kind. The gyro was excellent as always. The vegetables are always very fresh. My only complaint is the pita for the gyro is cut in weird multiple triangle shapes so it falls apart when you eat it, but it tastes awesome ”
“ We passed by American Hero many times but never tried it. We saw the sign out front promoting the Philly Steak & Cheese Sub yesterday. So we stopped to give it a try but didn't know what to expect. Long story short, we are soooo happy we stopped at American Hero! The sub was DELICIOUS! The fries were, too. The wings were good, but that sub.... uhm, uhm, uhm, I've never had a sub that tasted like that! The bread for the sub was so fresh! I 10/10 recommend the sub, loaded! Also, the fruit punch was very good, too! We dined in. The staff were very kind! We will definitely be going back for more subs but to also try their pizza! ”
